The chain wear indicator is a good guide to let you know when to change either the chain, cassette or both on your bike. Maintaining the chain and cassette will make the rest of your drive chain last longer and keep your bike running spot on.  The tool will be marked with a 0.75 and a 0.1.

Drop the chain tool into the chain link, ensuring the non-numbered end of the tool is sat in the link properly. You can check if the 0.75 end of the tool will sit in the link- if so this is a good time to replace the chain.

If the 0.75 end fits in easily then we would advise checking the 0.1 side of the tool fits in- if so then this is the time to change both the chain and cassette.
